Moreno Valley woman holds office in national teachers’ organization – Press-Enterprise


Kay Palush of Moreno Valley was installed as first vice president and business chairman of National Kappa Kappa Iota, a professional organization of educators, at the organization’s annual convention held in June in Cleveland.
Palush was one of several Nu State California members at the convention, from the XI and Zeta-Eta Kappa chapters from Riverside and Ontario.
Rita Brown, also of Moreno Valley, was installed as Nu State California president and named to serve on the professional development committee for the national organization.
Other California members named to serve on national committees for 2019-20 include Henrietta Hamilton of Moreno Valley, bylaws; Becky Olobri, Riverside, Campus Kappas; Kerri Olobri, Riverside, Campus Kappa representative; Joan Malcolm, Riverside, Region 1 membership chairman; Martha Martin, Moreno Valley, philanthropic; and Carolyn Rockwood, Ontario, scholarship.
Kappa Kappa Iota, founded in Stillwater, Okla., in 1921, is a nonprofit professional organization with approximately 3,000 members in 22 states, according to a press release.
In addition to providing a network for members to share teaching practices and methods, the organization contributed more than $1.2 million this year to local and national charities that support battered adults and children and awarded more than $4,200 in national scholarships.
